Writing these sentences and emotions are easier for me than for most people due to my attachment to my culture and nation. Of course, I can not pass without telling you the story of this country, which we obtained by defeating the 7 enemies under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk in the War of Independence, which is the historical event that influenced me the most. I’ve liked those times more than Turkey’s current condition. Back then, those who discussed national matters were thrown into prisons, articles written in newspapers were suppressed by the Sultan, and the country’s territories were handed over without firing a single shot. This is where everything started to fall apart. Untill Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lit a fire to save this country, our country. The whole country was invaded. Greece in the west, Italy in the Mediterranean, Armenia and Russia in the east, and France in the southeast. The Ottoman Empire was facing the prospect of becoming a British colony. Imagine that in these occupied regions, there were things like killing, torture, and rape of homes and women. We fought with rifles we didn’t have, boots that weren’t on our feet, and clothes we didn’t have on our backs. And we gave what we had to our non-existent army. In the newspapers of other countries, headlines read ‘A Handful of Turks Defied the World’. We didn’t establish this Republic easily, we didn’t save this homeland easily. You only know about the Gallipoli (Çanakkale) War. That’s why it’s not just Gallipoli, we paid a heavy price to own every inch of this homeland. Therefore, the Tekalifimilli orders, and the Kuvayimilliye’s bravery in fighting with the same courage all over the country are always factors that impress me.
